Pain is almost an everyday thing, but that does not mean that we have to like it or live with it. There are all sorts of different means for combating pain. When we are in some kind of pain we can often just pop a pill and be rid of it, at least for a while.
There are different kinds of pills that we can use to relieve us of the pain. For minor pain, we can use Aspirin, but this will only help us with minor headaches, toothaches and such.
However, when we are in more pain, when we can already say that the pain is moderate or severe, that is when Aspirin and similar drugs are not enough and we need help from something stronger.
One of the most often prescribed painkillers for moderate to severe pain is called Tramadol. This drug should only be used with a prescription from a medical expert and only given to people who are indeed in pain.
The drug is often used as a part of treatment after surgeries, accidents or for treatment of specific medical conditions, like: Restless legs syndrome, certain types of Arthritis or Fybromialgia.
The usually prescribed Tramadol dosage for adults would be 25 milligrams every 4-6 hours per day. This dosage can be further increased per need, however this is something that you should let your doctor do and not do it yourself.
The maximum recommended dosage for adults would be 400 milligrams per day and should not exceed this. The dosage for children and elderly people are different, of course, and one should proceed with caution when giving this drug to these two groups.
A patient who is taking Tramadol as a part of his pain treatment should also be informed about the side effects that this painkiller can cause, especially if he or she is not using it as per his doctor’s instructions or the instructions on the label.
The most common side effects of this drug include:
- dry mouth,
- fatigue and seizures.
You should notify your doctor if you experience any side effect while taking Tramadol, even though most of the time they don’t last for long.
The risk of side effects is further increased if you take it with alcohol. Also, one should tell the doctor about any medical conditions that could get worse if he starts taking Tramadol, most notably liver or kidney diseases, previous depressions… Also, if you had a history of abusing drugs or alcohol, avoid taking this drug.
You can get Tramadol either in your local pharmacy or online. If you are going to order it from the internet, make sure that you are getting it from a reputable online pharmacy and that the product meets the necessary standards as there are a lot of substandard products or even fake Tramadol out there, so one should always be careful when ordering it, especially if he is doing so for the first time.
